Last week I worked on this:

The top – this fit perfectly!  It is really cute. I found the material at an Antique mall  – the same place I found the pattern.

Making the darts in the pants. This is the first pattern that I’ve made with darts. I don’t know why I was so worried.  They are really not that hard. The pants came out HUGE. I’m not sure how the pattern was a size 7 top and bottom with the bottoms being so large!  I had to take an inch off the pattern size at least. And I did this in the most completely WRONG way.  I had already sewn and serged the sides before I tried them on J and discovered they were way too big, so I very nicely smoothed out each seam and cut 🙂 Right up the leg. It worked though – cut off the extra and the stitching all at once.

Then I added the zipper to the side – Skipped the waist band all together and made a flat waist panel.. (hard to explain – will take pictures). Still it was too big. So I added a place for a piece of elastic. So the elastic stretches across the back. Works perfect!  Now I realize I don’t have pictures for any of this  – sorry:) But after I give it a spin through the washer (since she put it on immediately) I will take pictures of the finished product.

Have a great day!

Magazine race at advanced camp for R.

I'm bound and determined to make a top from this fantastic pattern book. Now to decipher the Japanese

decoupaging containers for school supplies

New fish for R.

Reading outside on our first NORMAL day in months!

My youngest is currently outside making mud cakes and cupcakes. She’s been using a plastic bag to put the “icing” on the cakes 🙂  I guess she watches too many cooking shows.

Yesterday we spent a fantastic afternoon at a playground with many other homeschooling friends. Good for the moms and good for the kids.  My youngest finally got to meet some new old friends. We were pregnant at the same time and our girls were supposed to be weeks apart. Instead Jaia came three months early. But she’s healthy now! So no complaints. That was 7 years ago  – WOW!

Enjoy the day!

Sorry for  being MIA lately  – No excuses really. I’ve had lots of good ideas for blog posts the past couple of weeks. It’s pure laziness really. I’m new enough to the blogging world that I’m not that dedicated to posting every day. That will change now that school will start for us in the next couple of weeks.  We always wait until the schools are back in session for a bit before we start. It gives us some “quite time” around town .

Let’s see. Camp is done and R did a great job! I was less worried about R than the pony – whom we’ve had issues with in the past. But they both did great and I’m so pleased!

I traced off a Japanese pattern. Now I need to find the perfect material for the pattern.

I learned how to crochet – a square, albeit a crooked one but a square nonetheless.!  And knit! and I completed one small project – cute white wrist-lets that my youngest wants after I finish embellishing them. Actually, she just told me she wants them as is – Just like Wonder Woman!  This child of mine is too funny. I think she’s just seen pictures of WW. But I guess who better to emulate than a female superhero?

I found the cutest vintage girls pattern at a local antique mall that I plan to make for J. It’s the perfect size! Size 7.

R got a new fish. Her others died – but we bought those at  pet smart. They probably had some disease.  This cute fish we bought at a fish specialty store.

Sorry there are no pictures – My biggest has hijacked my camera to take videos and pictures of her fish.  I’ll rescue it today and post pictures of everything.

Have a great day!

I always go into each week thinking that it will be a slower – more laid back week. Then it doesn’t always happen. Each Monday and Wednesday we go to our barn to clean stalls  and do various other things.  This week we went to 6-flags. I love going to 6-flags!  It’s a ton of fun. I’m so impressed by my 7 year old – she went on every ride with us. Including several roller coasters!  Alas – no one wanted to go on the ones that had “loop-de-loops”.

We were supposed to go to a 4-H meeting but oops!  I really did forget about that one!  Today we are going to visit some friends.

I’ve picked a day to start school – September 7th. Both girls have been warned and we’ll go do some general school shopping next week or so. There’s not much we need, being homeschoolers. But it’s still fun. Folders, pencils, markers – you know – general stuffs.

Not much else going on. Maybe I’ll bake something this weekend.

Enjoy the day!
